How do you get so many coupons????

So I have noticed lots of questions about how people get their coupon inserts. Many people have what we call our "coupon fairy's". A coupon fairy is a person with connections to the newspaper who can give you an abundant supply of coupons. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had a magical coupon fairy show up each Sunday (or even better Saturday night)!? But lets face it, most of us will not get one. Here are the ways I have gotten my coupons.

  1. The first and most reliable way to get your coupons every week is of course to get a subscription to the Sacramento Bee (or other local paper if you are outside of Sacramento). You can sign up for the Sac Bee with a Sunday only subscription for an entire year for only $28.99 per subscription. That works out to only $.55 per paper. *If you would like to sign up send me a message and I can get you started* You can sign up for up to 5 subscriptions per week. I currently have 2 papers delivered to my house every week.
  2. Many people visit the Dollar tree for their coupons. Dollar tree sells the Sunday paper at a reduced price of $1 (compared to $2 elsewhere). I will sometimes get a few extra copies at the Dollar Tree if I know that week has some great coupons included. Many people visit the Dollar Tree every Sunday and get bundles of 10 papers at a time.
  3. Friends and family - Many of your friends and family members probably have subscriptions to the news paper and don't use their coupons. They end up throwing their coupons away anyway so they might as well save them for you right!? I have have a couple family members, a friend, and a co-worker who currently save their newspaper inserts for me.
  4. Junk mail inserts - Many lucky people receive a modified coupon insert in with their junk mail on Monday's. Sadly I no longer receive these in my mail (I think this is true for all of Elk Grove). When I lived in Sacramento, however, I collected my inserts in with my junk mail every Monday.
  5. Mail box recycle bin - If you live in an apartment complex you most likely have a recycle bin very close to the mail boxes. Many times people will go through their mail and throw out the "junk" before they take it up to their house. You can find LOTS of inserts in there if you are willing to look through it and take them out. My Mother in law used to live in apartment buildings and watch my son for me. I would go through her recycle every Tuesday morning when I dropped him off. (I felt more comfortable doing this early in the morning before everyone was up and out).

To sum it all up, there are lots of ways to get a hold of you coupon inserts. Sometimes we have to be creative, but with a little work there are lots of coupons to get our hands on! I hope this helps every one out!
